Tax

There’s something that I really hate in this country… Not really tax as a whole, but just how much we get taxed… And it feels like it’s never going anywhere useful… Not only that but it feels like we get taxed for absolutely everything I just got a letter in the post for import tax - I bought a car part in June from Taiwan for £25 and paid £15 shipping (it’s worth about £60 in England) and I get a letter in late september asking for £15 tax… What the f*ck was the point of that? It feels like the fine I got early this month...

I just feel like this country takes liberties with the whole tax thing… Just think about it: you earn money, you get taxed on it; you spend money, you get taxed on it; you inherit money, you get taxed on it - to me that is truly f*cked up, a dead relative is giving you their money and the government swoops in to take a piece - nice… And it goes on - you gift money, you get taxed on it; you drive a car, you get taxed on it; you make money from property, you get taxed on it; you get interest from savings, you get taxed on it… I would stop but the list keeps going: you import something, you get taxed on it; you buy petrol, you get taxed crazy amounts on it; you live in a house, you get taxed on it (council tax)... Ahh, it’s just toooo much!

I dunno, maybe this is just me who thinks like this - it just feels unfair… I study accounting and one of the modules is UK tax, so i know really how much of someone’s earnings go to the government… This whole tax the rich more thing, I hate it… And I work at a post office - one of the main things I do there is give out benefit money… To a lot of these people, the Post Office is just an ATM machine (they could use an ATM machine but I don’t think they know how to, they struggle to get their PIN right)... Anyways, working at the Post Office just makes me feel like while I’m working an 8am ‘til 7pm job, I’m getting taxed, these people are collecting it up and I’m literally handing it over… Needless to say, I support the tories :) I think if you give to the poor like this, they have no real incentive to work hard for a little more money… In my head, there are people who work their asses off wiping tables or cleaning floors (and they get taxed) and then there are people who just walk into the post office and collect their charity money for the week… Ahh, the UK! What a great socialistic place...

Well, this is my rant over… Just thought I’d mention that someone once said ‘A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.’ and I just cannot agree more…

Sayonara b*tches...
